Felix Martin Poenichen (born November 5, 1964 in Hamburg ) is a German actor, singer and musical performer. Martin lives in Berlin.

Youth and career start

Felix Martin was born in Hamburg as the son of the actor Horst Poenichen and the actress and phonetics professor Ursula Gompf. At the age of six he was already involved in the play The Naked Hamlet at the Freie Volksbühne Berlin .

He discovered his love for music theater at an early age and at the age of twelve was one of the three boys in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte on the stage of the Hamburg State Opera under the direction of Götz Friedrich . At the Ernst Deutsch Theater in Hamburg he regularly followed the rehearsals of the legendary Viennese theater director Karl Paryla . He attended the Rudolf Steiner School, where he staged Mozart's one-act opera Bastien and Bastienne as a final project and sang Bastien himself.

At the age of 15, Felix Martin attended the Salzburg Festival and played the page in Shakespeare's As You Like It , alongside Barbara Sukowa and Helmut Lohner , directed by Otto Schenk . At the age of 18 he was accepted at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna, where he was taught by Susi Nicoletti and Samy Molcho , among others . He made his debut at the Vienna Burgtheater in Der Hauptmann von Köpenick and received his vocal training from Michael Dixon and Kammersängerin Gisela Litz, among others.

Artistic career

In Berlin, Felix Martin played title roles in Schlemihl at the Theater des Westens and in Elvis - stages of a career (for which he received the audience award "Daphne"), as well as Frank'n'Furter in the Rocky Horror Show at the Berlin Kammerspiele . Then Peter Weck brought him in 1988 for the German-speaking original line-up of Les Misérables as Marius at the Raimund Theater in Vienna , before he cast him in 1990 as Prof. Spiegelclown for the world premiere of Freudiana . At the Theater an der Wien , Felix Martin took on the role of Death in the successful musical Elisabeth by Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay, directed by Harry Kupfer . In the Duisburg production of “Les Misérables” he was again on stage as Marius. In Hamburg he played from September 2001 to June 2002 in the musical Mozart! , also by Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay, the Prince Archbishop Colloredo.

Felix Martin took on other leading roles in states such as Ancient Rome , You're Alright Charlie Brown , Dorian Gray , and as Danny in Grease . For his portrayal of Alex Dillingham in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Aspects of Love in the Dresden State Operetta , Felix Martin was awarded the “Image 98” as best male leading actor. He was seen on television in the series I will marry a family and Atlantis, among others . In the competition of HypoVereinsbank "youth culture 2005" in the category Musical, he served as a jury member.

Until the end of January 2006, Felix Martin played the main role of Count von Krolock in the musical Tanz der Vampire in Hamburg, directed by Roman Polański . In April 2007 he was seen in the same role as a guest in the Berlin production of the play at the Theater des Westens. Until December 30, 2007 he was as Ebenezer Scrooge in "The Spirit of Christmas " on the stage of the Theater am Marientor in Duisburg . In April 2008 Felix Martin took on the role of Tod in the musical Elisabeth again . In the tour production directed by Harry Kupfer, he was seen until January 4, 2009, first at the Berlin Theater des Westens and then at Theater 11 in Zurich .

Felix Martin could be seen as a soloist at various musical and gala concerts, including Musical on Ice , Summer Night of the Musical , Elisabeth - The 10th Anniversary Concert in the Wiener Konzerthaus and Best of Musical 2004 in the Kölnarena . In June 2008 he presented the open-air gala Felix Martin & Friends - Musical Highlights with Isabel Dörfler, Kristin Hölck and Thomas Borchert for the first time in Celle . As part of the DaCapo Musical Award 2008, the concert was awarded 1st place in the “Best Show” category.

In addition to his stage engagements, Felix Martin has been successfully developing and presenting his own solo concerts since 2005, accompanied on the piano by pianist Marina Komissartchik. His first live CD Felix Martin LIVE with highlights from the program emerged from the solo program Musicals & More . The CD stayed at number 1 in the German musical charts for several months (musicals 02 + 04/2007).

In 2006 Felix Martin expanded his repertoire with the Christmas program Schöne Bescherung and on September 30, 2007 he celebrated Felix Martin live with the solo evening ! Premiere. On October 24, 2008, he presented the pur & unplugged program at Borbeck Castle in Essen, and he presented his latest project, Best of Felix Martin , to the public for the first time on November 19, 2008 in the mustard pot in Cologne .
