Filadelfia is a municipality and a small town with 5094 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Vibo Valentia , Calabria region in Italy .

Before the great earthquake in 1783, the city was called Castelmonardo. The city was almost completely destroyed in the earthquake and then rebuilt. Today ruins of the old city can still be seen protruding from the ground in the area.

Filadelfia extends over an area of ​​30 km² and has a population density of around 209 inhabitants / km².

The neighboring communities are Curinga ( CZ ), Francavilla Angitola , Jacurso and Polia ( CZ ).

The composer and music teacher Paolo Serrao and the politician Federico Guglielmo Lento were born in Filadelfia .
