Florentin Groll , also Florentín Groll , (born August 9, 1945 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian actor , speaker and theater director .

Life

Florentin Groll was born the son of an opera singer, he spent his childhood in Sankt Gilgen in the Salzkammergut , and went to school in Munich and Frankfurt am Main . After graduating from high school , he began studying theater studies in Vienna in 1965 , with Heinz Kindermann among others .

He came to acting by chance, his friend, the Greek director Stavros Doufexis offered him a one-movement role, his first stage appearance had Groll at the Ateliertheater on Vienna's Naschmarkt in the Austrian premiere of Bertolt Brecht's petty bourgeois wedding . His first visit to a drama school was as a teacher, among other things he was a lecturer at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and at the drama school in Graz . In 1967 he played at the Dortmund Theater and began studying philosophy and sociology in Frankfurt am Main, with Theodor W. Adorno , among others .

From 1970 she played in Bonn, Tübingen, Darmstadt, at the Theater am Turm (TAT) in Frankfurt and at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf . In 1979 he was engaged at the Burgtheater in Vienna , where he was a member of the ensemble until 2010. Guest performances have taken him to the Stuttgart State Theater , the Hamburg Thalia Theater , the Wiener Schauspielhaus , the Reichenau Festival , the Melk and Perchtoldsdorf Summer Games , the Hague Theater Summer and the Rosenburg Summer Night Comedy . In 2019 he was in the stage version of Our Souls at Night at the Theater an der Effingerstrasse at the side of Heidi Maria Glössner as Addie as Louis on stage.

From 1981 to 1983 he portrayed in the television series Ringstraßenpalais the role of Dr. Paul Ender, from 1996 to 2005 he played the role of Josef "Sepp" Thallinger in the series Schlosshotel Orth .

As a director, he staged at the Burgtheater, the Reichenau Festival and the Palais Auersperg . In addition to his work as an actor and director, he is also active as a spokesperson for radio plays, documentaries and commercials, including the narrator in the Austrian version of A Piglet Named Babe (1995) and Piggy Babe in the Big City (1998).

Florentin Groll is married to the actress and director Babett Arens .
