The San Juan airport (officially Aeropuerto Domingo Faustino Sarmiento) is an Argentine airport near the town of San Juan in the province of San Juan . The airport was named after Domingo Faustino Sarmiento , the seventh president of Argentina .

history

The first plans for an airport were made in 1958, and these were then approved in 1961. For this purpose, an area of 346 hectares south of San Juan was purchased. The airport was built from 1971, almost finished by an earthquake in 1977 but destroyed again. It was rebuilt between 1977 and 1980 and finally opened in 1981. In addition to Aerolineas Argentinas flights to Buenos Aires , LATAM Argentina also offered flights to Buenos Aires between 2008 and 2018.
