The Pescara Airport ( ital. Aeroporto di Pescara or Aeroporto d'Abruzzo ) is an international airport near the Italian Adriatic -Stadt Pescara in the Region of Abruzzo .

It is 3 km south of the SS 16 bypass .

Airlines and Destinations

The airport was the home base of ItAli Airlines . There are two German-speaking destinations: Weeze and Frankfurt-Hahn. Both are served by Ryanair. Various police and civil protection authorities have airborne units at the airport.

history

The airport was created in 1917 as a military airfield . In 1933, the Società Aerea Mediterranea ( Ala Littoria ) took on scheduled flights between Pescara and Rome-Urbe . After the Second World War, Transadricatica and Avio Linee Italiane first served the airport, then Itavia , Alitalia , ATI and Aermediterranea . British Caledonian Airways flew to Pescara from London . In 1983 the current airline Air One was founded as Aliadriatica in Pescara.
