The main commercial airports in Italy
(with more than 700,000 passengers in 2010)
The list of airports in Italy includes all Italian commercial airports served by national and international airlines , as well as the most important other civil and military airports.
Explanation
Name of the airport: Provides the name of the airport and any additional names.
IATA code : The code consists of a combination of three Latin letters and is used to clearly identify the individual commercial airports. Usually it is based on the name of the city where the airport is located, the name of the airport, or the closest location. The IATA code is issued by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
ICAO code : The ICAO code is issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization and consists of a combination of four Latin letters. The first letter L stands for Southern Europe, I for Italy, the third letter at airports on the Italian mainland is usually based on the respective flight information area or the relevant district control office of the air traffic control ( Milan , Padua , Rome , Brindisi ), while Sicily and parts of Calabria the letter C ( Catania ) and in Sardinia the letter E ( Elmas ) is used. The fourth letter can be identical to the first letter of the geographical location to which the airport is assigned.
Passengers 2010: Indicates the total number of passengers at the airport in 2010. This includes regular services, package tours, commercial traffic, commercial traffic and other traffic. In addition, there is non-commercial traffic, such as factory traffic and non-commercial traffic.
Commercial airports
Commercial airports with an annual passenger volume of at least 100,000 are included here. Smaller airfields whose passenger numbers are not always published are listed below.
The following list can be sorted : by clicking on a column header, the list is sorted according to this column, clicking twice reverses the sorting. Any desired combination can be achieved by clicking two columns in a row.
