The Cuneo airport ( Italian Aeroporto di Cuneo-Levaldigi , IATA code : CUF , ICAO code : LIMZ ) is an Italian commercial airport in the southwestern region of Piedmont . Low-cost airlines also refer to it as "Turin-Cuneo Airport".

history

The airport was created in 1929 as a military airfield . In the early 1960s, it was practically rebuilt as a civilian airfield and opened to commercial traffic in 1986. Today it is mainly used by charter and low-cost airlines , but also serves general aviation and the local aero club. Cuneo Airport is the second largest in the Piedmont region after Turin Airport .

Location and transport links

The airport is 16 kilometers north of Cuneo and 65 kilometers south of Turin near the town of Levaldigi. Cuneo can be reached via the SS 20 (SR 20) and the A6 and A33 motorways , which run a few kilometers to the east and lead to Turin, Alessandria and Savona (Liguria). Car rental companies are represented at the airport. There is a bus connection with Turin (Lingotto, 60 minutes) and also to the nearby train stations of Savigliano and Fossano . The winter sports area of Limone Piemonte is around 40 kilometers south.

Infrastructure

The airport has an asphalt runway that runs from northeast to southwest and is around 2100 meters long (03/21). The passenger terminal and apron are to the west of the runway. A taxiway leads to the southern threshold .
