The parliamentary group Die Linke in the Bundestag ( left parliamentary group for short, proper spelling parliamentary group DIE LINKE. In the Bundestag ) is the parliamentary group of the Die Linke party in the German Bundestag .

Dietmar Bartsch and Amira Mohamed Ali have been the chairmen of the left-wing parliamentary group in the 19th German Bundestag since November 2019 .

The left-wing parliamentary group was constituted on September 23, 2005. Before the merger of WASG and Linkspartei.PDS into Die Linke on June 16, 2007, the left-wing parliamentary group was the joint group of independent MPs and members of the two source parties in the German Bundestag . The group chairmanship was initially shared by Gregor Gysi and Oskar Lafontaine , after the federal election in 2009 Gysi was elected sole chairman due to Lafontaine's retreat due to illness. After Gysi's renouncement of a renewed candidacy for the parliamentary group chairmanship, Sahra Wagenknecht and Dietmar Bartsch were elected group chairmen in October 2015 . In November 2019, Amira Mohamed Ali was elected to succeed Sahra Wagenknecht.

On February 26, 2010, 50 members of the left-wing parliamentary group were excluded from the Bundestag debate on the extension of the Afghanistan mission by President of the German Bundestag Norbert Lammert after they had violated the rules of procedure of the German Bundestag by placing posters with names and ages from their seats by victims of the fatal air strikes in early September 2009 near Kunduz . The group then closed the plenary session. Charitable commitment

Since 2002 the majority of the parliamentary group's members have been donating EUR 200 per month to the association of the parliamentary group Die Linke e. V. to support political and cultural projects. In 2013, too, according to Spiegel information, 25 of the 57 members of the Bundestag left were under surveillance by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

In March 2014, the Federal Minister of the Interior, Thomas de Maizière , informed the parliamentary group leader Gregor Gysi that members of the Bundestag on the left would no longer be observed by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution and that members of the Bundestag would "in future be generally exempt from observation by the domestic secret service".
