Franco Damián Vázquez (born February 22, 1989 in Tanti ) is an Argentine - Italian football player . He can play in midfield as well as in attack and is currently under contract with Sevilla FC .

Career

In the club

Vázquez began his football career in 2003 in the youth of CA Barrio Parque, for which he was active for two years. In 2005 he moved to the youth department of the larger CA Belgrano , which he attended until 2009. From 2008 Vázquez received his first playing times in the professional team, from 2009 was an integral part of the team and came regularly to games. After he drew attention to himself with good performances in the Primera División in the 2011/12 season , the then Italian first division club US Palermo signed him in January 2012 for just under 4.5 million euros. Already in the second half of the 2011/12 season , Vázquez was often used and played 14 games. The following season he was awarded to the Spanish club Rayo Vallecano , where he should collect match practice. He scored three goals in 18 games for the first division club . After Palermo was relegated from Serie A in the same period, however, Vázquez returned. In the second division season 2013/14 he was able to celebrate the second division championship and the associated promotion to Serie A with Palermo .

In July 2016, Vázquez moved to Sevilla FC .

In the national team

In March 2015, Vázquez was appointed to the squad of the Italian national team for the first time by national coach Antonio Conte . In the friendly against England on March 31, he made his debut for the Squadra Azzurra . Vázquez made his second and so far last international match for Italy in the friendly against Portugal in June 2015 . In September 2015 he was last nominated for the European Championship qualifiers against Malta and Bulgaria , but was not used.

In August 2016, Vázquez expressed the wish to play for Argentina in the future , should he be called up in the squad.
