Éver Maximiliano David Banega (born June 29, 1988 in Rosario ) is an Argentine - Spanish football player . He is under contract with Sevilla FC .
society
Éver Banega comes from the youth of Boca Juniors . After Fernando Gago's transfer to Real Madrid, the midfielder moved up to the first team. On February 10, 2007, he made his professional debut in a game against CA Banfield . In the same year he won the Copa Libertadores with the Boca Juniors and the 2007 Junior World Cup with the Argentine U-20 team .
In January 2008 Banega moved to Spain for Valencia CF after their team captain David Albelda had been removed from the squad by the new coach Ronald Koeman and the club needed a substitute for his position in central midfield. After disappointing results from the ambitious club, Koeman was sacked towards the end of the season and Albelda was brought back into the squad. As a result, Éver Banega was loaned out to Atlético Madrid for a year because of the great competition in his position in the summer of 2008 to collect match practice there. At Atlético, Banega played an important role in the central midfield position. After he moved back to Valencia for the 2009/10 season , he continued his performance at Atlético and played alongside David Albelda in the first team. From the beginning of 2010 at the latest, he was an important support in the midfield of Valencia CF. Banega made 36 games in the season and finished third with Valencia CF. After Juan Mata moved to Chelsea in the 2011/12 season, he wore the number 10.
For the 2014/15 season Banega moved to Sevilla FC and played 59 league games in two seasons, in which he scored eight goals.
In the season 2016/17 he played for Inter Milan in the Italian Serie A . He then returned to his former club Sevilla FC . He signed a three-year contract there.
National team
He took part in the 2008 Olympic soccer tournament in China and won the gold medal with the Argentine selection. For the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, he was not considered by coach Diego Maradona , although he had previously mostly been part of the Argentine national team in the qualifying games. After Maradona's dismissal as national coach, he was back in the squad and took part in the 2011 Copa America, where Argentina was eliminated as hosts in the quarter-finals.
Others
In February 2013, Banega received Spanish citizenship in addition to his Argentine citizenship .
