Frank Otto (born July 7, 1957 in Hamburg ) is a German media entrepreneur . Through Frank Otto Medienbeteiligungs GmbH & Co. KG , he is involved in various private radio and private television stations .

biography

After Ingvild and Michael Otto, Frank Otto is the third of five children of multi-billionaire Werner Otto , founder of Otto-Versand . He trained as a restorer for paper and graphics at the Hamburg Museum of Art and Industry and studied fine arts at the Muthesius Art College in Kiel in Harald Duwe's class . Afterwards he was active as a musician and music producer (bands: Otto & die Ottodoxen, City Nord, Goya). In 1987 he founded OK Radio , the second private radio station in Hamburg (today HAMBURG ZWEI ) with Rolf Baierle (music publisher) and Klaus Schulz (publisher of the OXMOX magazine ) and is still the majority shareholder there. In 1993 he was a co-founder of VIVA . In 1995 he founded Hamburg 1, one of the first private regional television stations in Germany. Among other things, he is at the Schleswig-Holstein Radio transmitters delta radio and Radio NORA and Kiss FM (Berlin), Energy Saxony and ISPs RauteMusik and Laut.de / Laut.fm involved.

From 1999 to 2003 he was editor of the Hamburger Morgenpost ; Otto founded City-Boulevard Beteiligungs GmbH und Co. KG with Hans Barlach in 1999 .

In June 2004 Otto secured the license for the 2004/05 regional league season for FC St. Pauli with a guarantee of 600,000 euros .

At the Expo 2005 in Aichi , Japan, his music and multimedia project TRIP - Remix Your Experience was presented for the first time . The production company he founded for this purpose, Ferryhouse , was developed into a music and film label in 2007. In the same year, Xounts AG , which he co-founded, presented itself to the trade as an official partner of the IFA . He has been involved in the Radiopark Group since 2008. The following spring he co-founded the Untitled publishing house and agency . Via Loreley Venue Management , Otto has been involved in the renovation and revitalization of the Loreley open-air theater since 2010 . In 2011 he accompanied Hamburg as the green capital with his broadcaster greencapital.tv . Since January 2019 he has also been involved in building up CannaCare Health GmbH.

Private life

Until 2001 Otto was married to the presenter Sandra Maahn . You have two children. Otto also has two children from the following marriage to Stefanie Volkmer, which was concluded in 2008. The couple divorced in January 2018. Since 2015 he has had a relationship with the 40 years younger model Nathalie Volk .

Volunteering

Frank Otto has been on the board of the Hamburg Press Club since 1993 . At about the same time, he began to work on the Hamburg Leuchtfeuer Board of Trustees , for which he laid the foundation stone of the Leuchtfeuer Foundation in 2004 . He was a co-initiator of Beatles-Platz and in August 2008 he co-founded the Popkurs Foundation . As the first chairman he is involved in Hamburg Hoch 11 , for the Hamburg Climate Week , as a member of the advisory board for the club foundation, the IHM interest group Hamburg Music Industry, the Millerntor Gallery , in the board of trustees of the EBC University and in the committee for media and creative industries of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce as Shareholder in the non-profit GmbH Kunsthaus Hamburg , as a supporter at the Kulturpalast Hamburg and as an ambassador to the World Future Council , on the board of the Luca Foundation, and as a sponsor from the very beginning of reading without nuclear power , millionways, Deutsche Meeresstiftung, Hamburg Media School and Viva con Agua .
