Frank Skinner (composer)

Frank Skinner (born December 31, 1897 in Meredosia , Illinois , † October 8, 1968 in Hollywood ) was an American composer .

Life

Frank Skinner studied music at the Chicago Musical College and worked as an arranger for dance bands and vaudeville shows at the beginning of his career . In 1925 he came to New York City , where he arranged over 2,000 pop songs for the Robbins music publisher by 1935. In 1936 he went to Hollywood, where he first worked in the music department of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and later for Universal Studios . In more than thirty years of film work, he composed the music for over 200 films. Although he never won an Oscar , he was nominated five times for the coveted trophy. Skinner was one of the most excellent craftsmen among film music composers.
