Franz Friedrich Freiherr von Kinski und Tettau (born October 12, 1789 at Haus Tervoort , † October 23, 1845 in Neuwied ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and commandant of the Jülich Fortress .

Life

origin

He comes from the Dutch line of the Kinsky family . His parents were Reinhard Otto von Kinski and Tettau (* August 18, 1729; † before 1793) and his wife Elisabeth Agnese, born von Pelden called Cloudt (1747-1828), a daughter of the Dutch captain Wilhelm Freiherr von Pelden called Cloudt († 1758). His father was a lieutenant colonel . D. , most recently in the "Jung-Woldeck" infantry regiment . His mother married Major General Johann Friedrich Wilhelm von Schoeler (1731-1817) as a widow in 1793 .

Military career

Kinski and Tettau came to Berlin as a cadet on September 28, 1794 . On July 4, 1795, he was employed as a non-commissioned officer in the "von Kunitzky" infantry regiment of the Prussian Army , where he was promoted to secondary lieutenant until the end of September 1800 . From November 23, 1802 to August 24, 1806 he worked in the newly established infantry regiment "von Chlebowsky" and then came to the cadet corps as a staff captain . During the Fourth Coalition War he became company commander of the 3rd West Prussian Reserve Battalion on December 13, 1806 .

After the Peace of Tilsit , Kinski and Tettau were reassigned to the Cadet Corps on August 2, 1807. On August 29, 1807, he was given four months' leave to go to Russia. On April 7, 1810 he became a captain , on May 1, 1811 company commander and on April 19, 1812 major . From March 27, 1813, Kinski und Tettau was adjutant of the general of the cavalry of L'Estocq , who acted as governor of the area between the Elbe and Oder . On August 6, 1813, he became General Staff Officer Lieutenant General von Wobeser . On November 23, 1813, he was first assigned to the General Staff before he came to Lieutenant General von Hünerbein on December 29, 1813 as General Staff Officer . During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the battles at Luckau , Dahme, Avesnes and Compiegne as well as the sieges of Torgau and Magdeburg, the blockade of Mainz and later in the battles at Ligny and Belle Alliance . He acquired the Iron Cross II. Class and the Order of St. Vladimir IV. Class for Luckau and the Iron Cross I. Class for Ligny. In 1814 he was transferred to the 3rd Brigade of the 1st Army Corps as General Staff Officer. After Napoleon's return , he became a general staff officer on March 30, 1815 for the then major general von Jagow .

On October 2, 1817 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and came as a general staff officer to the chief of the troop brigade in Stettin , lieutenant general von Krafft . On July 6, 1816, he was also chairman of the commission to examine the portepeefähnriche of the Stettin Brigade. On March 6, 1817, he was aggregated to the 2nd Guards Regiment on foot , before being appointed director of the Berlin and Potsdam Brigade School on April 27, 1817. On June 9, 1817, he came as a commander in the 31st Infantry Regiment . There he became colonel on October 3, 1818 and on September 4, 1825 with the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class excellent. On March 10, 1827 was appointed commander of the 16th Infantry Brigade and aggregated to the 31st Infantry Regiment on April 16, 1827. In addition, he received permission to wear the regiment's uniform. On March 30, 1828, he was promoted to major general. On March 30, 1833, he was transferred as a commander to the 10th Landwehr Brigade and on March 30, 1835, he came to the Jülich fortress as a commander . On October 17, 1836 he was awarded the Red Eagle Order III. Class and on January 18, 1839 the Order of the Red Eagle II. Class with oak leaves and on March 30, 1839 he was given the character of Lieutenant General. Kinski and Tettau received the patent for his rank on June 11, 1839 with effect from March 30, 1839 . On January 21, 1844, he was awarded the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, II. Class with Oak Leaves, before retiring on March 16, 1844 with a pension of 2250 thalers. On September 23, 1844, he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle First Class with Oak Leaves. He died on October 23, 1845 in Neuwied am Rhein and was buried there on October 26, 1845.

He married on April 30, 1805 in Warsaw Wilhelmine Leopoldine von Beyer († 1806), stepdaughter of General von Chlebowski . After her untimely death, he married Konstantina Klara Johanna von Brixen and Montzel (1786–1864) on February 3, 1808 in Poczingnoy (Kursk Governorate, Russia ). The couple had the following children:
