Set up the village community by the maypole

Frauendorf is a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Groß Gerungs in Lower Austria in the Waldviertel . On an area of ​​1.83 km² and an average altitude of 700  m above sea level. A. live 81 inhabitants (as of January 2007).

Location and traffic

The place can be reached via two freight routes. A supply road leads between Klein Gundholz and Groß Gerungs from federal highway 119 up to the village. If you turn off the federal road 38 between Groß Gerungs and Dietmanns onto the state road 7303, after a few kilometers you will find the second supply road that leads through the forest into the village. A popular hiking trail is the forest trail which, along the Kleine Zwettl, connects two goods trails.

History

The community was first mentioned in a document in 1390. In 1934 almost the whole place was destroyed by a huge fire disaster. 14 farm buildings, 6 small houses and a chapel were destroyed. Only two houses in the village were spared from the flames (Eichinger and Schwarzinger). The extinguishing work left 11 injured.
