Fred Alexander (actually Alfred Beeh ; born June 16, 1927 in Augsburg ; † December 15, 2012 there ) was a German film and theater actor .

Life

Fred Alexander made his debut as a theater actor in Bochum , but later worked mainly on stages in the former GDR in Frankfurt (Oder) , Halle , Leipzig and the Volksbühne Berlin . At the same time, he also worked in national film and television productions for DEFA and German TV broadcasters such as Carl von Ossietzky (1963) and international productions such as Die Befreiung Prags (Osvobození Prahy, 1976).

He was best known to GDR television audiences as the voice of the heavenly messenger Arthur the Angel , a successful Hungarian animated television series.

He also acted as a presenter for the DFF music program Liebe, Rosen und Champagne.

The children of the last GDR generation in the 1980s got to know him as the old Friedemann , in whose role he occasionally appeared at the evening greeting from Our Sandman and with the help of marionettes, retold well-known fairy tales .

After the German reunification he continued his work as a theater actor on stages in Stuttgart , Hanover and Frankfurt am Main . He died on December 15, 2012 in Augsburg.
