Life

Schlitz was Privy Councilor and Chamber President of Elector Georg Ludwig of Braunschweig and Lüneburg (Hanover), who as King George I founded the Hanoverian line on the English throne. "Georg relied on his Chamber President Görtz, who was a great financial expert, for routine matters. Görtz was considered to be exemplary incorruptible." At the beginning of the 18th century, Friedrich Wilhelm had the Hallenburg Palace built in Schlitz . A fire in 1755 and the later expansion by one floor changed the appearance of the classicist castle, which is now used by the " Hessian Academy for Music and Cultural Education " as a state music academy .

In 1711 he was electoral ambassador for his circle in the election of Charles VI as emperor . in Frankfurt (Main) . In the work " Continuatio Diarii ... " published in 1712 on the occasion of the election there is a portrait of the politician by the Nuremberg engraver Joseph à Montalegre .

1714-16 he had the Rittmarshausen Castle built. In 1725 he had a new central brewery built beneath the Schachtenburg in the castle town of Schlitz . The lintel stone above the entrance to the so-called " Tenne " still shows his initials and the year of construction . The brewery only became the property of the company " Sämmliche Riedesel Freiherren zu Eisenbach (Industriebetriebe) OHG " in Lauterbach in 1967 .
