Friedrich Wilhelm Lebrecht von Strantz (born July 13, 1832 in Breslau , † March 2, 1909 in Kösen ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Friedrich was the son of the Prussian Lieutenant General Ludwig von Strantz (1783–1865) and his wife Lucie, née Countess von Maltzahn (1796–1834) from the Militsch family , divorced Countess von Haugwitz . His brother Ferdinand (1821–1909) became director of the Royal Court Opera in Berlin, Gustav (1823–1908), Prussian major general.

Military career

Strantz, whose godfather was the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III. received his education in his parents' house. He attended a grammar school and the knight academy in Liegnitz and joined the 5th Jäger Battalion of the Prussian Army on April 14, 1850 as an officer candidate . By mid-July 1853 he was promoted to second lieutenant and served as a battalion adjutant from 1857 to 1861. After he had been promoted to Premier Lieutenant in mid-October 1859 , Strantz was commanded to serve with the 2nd Lower Silesian Infantry Regiment for half a year from October 1862 . This was followed by a command as adjutant to Prince Constantine . On May 9, 1895 Strantz rose to captain and chief of the 2nd company. In this position he took part in the German War in 1866 and in 1870/71 during the war against France in the battles at Weißenburg , Wörth , Sedan and the siege of Paris .

Winner of both classes of the Iron Cross Strantz was after the peace agreement as at January 11, 1873 Major in the fourth Baden Infantry Regiment "Prince William" no. 112 is added. From April 16, 1874 to June 18, 1878, he was in command of the Grand Ducal Mecklenburg Jäger Battalion No. 14 . He climbed on June 11, 1879. Lieutenant Colonel and on 18 October 1883, for the Colonel and was shortly thereafter on November 4, 1883 position à la suite with the leadership of the 7th Thuringian Infantry Regiment. 96 commissioned. On December 6, 1883, he was appointed regimental commander. Under position à la suite, he was commissioned on July 12, 1888, to lead the 41st Infantry Brigade in Mainz . From August 2, 1888 to November 18, 1890, he was a major general in command of this brigade . On November 19, 1890, Strantz was transferred to the army with the promotion to lieutenant general and on December 18, 1890, in approval of his resignation request, he was put up for disposition with the statutory pension .

Strantz had married on September 27, 1858 in Görlitz with Klementine Countess von Reichenbach-Goschütz (1838-1924), the eldest daughter of the Prussian captain Leopold von Reichenbach-Goschütz (1808-1890). The following children were born from the marriage:
