Fruit Cove is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Johns County in the US state of Florida with 29,362 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Fruit Cove is located on the east bank of the St. Johns River and is about 25 miles northwest of St. Augustine and about 6 miles south of Jacksonville . The CDP is crossed by Florida State Road 13 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 29,362 inhabitants were distributed over 10,332 households. The population density was 634.2 inh / km². 90.8% of the population identified themselves as whites , 3.4% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 2.7% as Asian Americans . 0.9% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.0% to several ethnic groups. 5.8% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 49.4% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 18.6% of all households. 84.1% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.96 people and the average family size was 3.26 people.

33.1% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 17.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 35.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 13.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 40 years. 49.3% of the population were male and 50.7% were female.

The median annual income was $ 95,550, with 4.4% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 95.40% of the population, 3.46% spoke Spanish and 1.14% had another mother tongue.
