St. Augustine Shores is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Johns County in the US state of Florida with 7359 inhabitants (as of 2010).

St. Augustine Shores is directly adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway to the east and is approximately 5 km south of St. Augustine and approximately 70 km south of Jacksonville . The CDP is affected by US Highway 1 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 7359 inhabitants were distributed among 4207 households. The population density was 826.9 inh / km². 94.7% of the population identified themselves as whites, 2.3% as African American , 0.1% as Indians and 1.2% as Asian Americans . 0.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.3% to several ethnic groups. 5.1% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 43.8% of all households lived in 21.4% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 60.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.12 people and the average family size was 2.64 people.

18.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 18.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 36.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 51 years. 45.3% of the population were male and 54.7% were female.

The median annual income was $ 42,759, with 9.8% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 95.54% of the population, German and French spoke 1.59% and 1.28% spoke Italian .
