St. Augustine Beach is a city in St. Johns County in the US state of Florida with 6,176 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
St. Augustine Beach is located on the barrier island of the east coast of Anastasia Island between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic . The city borders directly on St. Augustine in the northwest and is about 60 km south of Jacksonville .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 6,176 inhabitants were distributed over 4,440 households. The population density was 1235.2 inh / km². 95.8% of the population identified themselves as white, 0.8% as African-American , 0.3% as Native American and 1.2% as Asian Americans . 0.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.2% to several ethnic groups. 3.8% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 31.1% of all households lived in 20.3% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 58.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.17 people and the average family size was 2.64 people.
17.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 29.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 46 years. 48.0% of the population were male and 52.0% were female.
The median annual income was $ 59,484, with 9.6% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 93.78% of the population, 3.11% spoke French and 3.11% had another mother tongue.

On February 23, 1972, the Spanish Coquina Quarries were entered on the National Register of Historic Places .

The crime rate in 2013 was 150 points (US average: 295 points) in the low range. There were two robberies, five assaults, 65 break-ins, 94 thefts and six car thefts.
