St. Augustine South is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Johns County in the US state of Florida with 4998 inhabitants (as of 2010).

St. Augustine South is directly adjacent to the city of St. Augustine to the north and the Intracoastal Waterway to the east and is approximately 70 km south of Jacksonville . The CDP is affected by US Highway 1 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 4998 inhabitants were distributed over 2275 households. The population density was 1110.7 inh / km². 94.8% of the population identified themselves as whites, 1.1% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 1.4% as Asian Americans . 0.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.0% to several ethnic groups. 4.3% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 26.6% of all households and persons aged at least 65 years in 31.4% of all households. 68.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.38 people and the average family size was 2.81 people.

20.7% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 20.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 32.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 25.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 47 years. 47.0% of the population were male and 53.0% were female.

The median annual income was $ 57,948, with 8.9% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 97.43% of the population, 1.90% spoke Spanish and 0.67% spoke French .
