Palm Valley is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Johns County in the US state of Florida with 20,019 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Palm Valley is located on a barrier island between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean on Florida's east coast. The CDP borders the cities of Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach in the north , is around 30 km north of St. Augustine and is crossed by Florida State Road A1A .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 20,019 inhabitants were distributed over 9,611 households. The population density was 576.9 inh / km². 94.8% of the population identified themselves as whites, 1.3% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 1.8% as Asian Americans . 0.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.3% to several ethnic groups. 3.8% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 27.8% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 28.0% of all households. 66.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.33 people and the average family size was 2.86 people.

23.4% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 17.3% were 20 to 39 years old, 34.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 24.9% were 60 years or older. The mean age was 47 years. 47.6% of the population were male and 52.4% were female.

The median annual income was $ 82,656, with 6.2% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 95.66% of the population, 3.12% spoke Spanish and 1.22% had another mother tongue.
