The gallery Kovacek & Zetter is a Vienna gallery , which was founded in 1999 by Claudia Kovacek-Longin and Sophie Zetter-Schwaiger. The gallery is located in downtown Vienna on Stallburggasse. In 2006 the gallery was expanded considerably.

History and gallery program

In 1999, Sophie Zetter-Schwaiger and Claudia Kovacek-Longin founded the Kovacek & Zetter gallery in downtown Vienna at the corner of Stallburggasse and Bräunerstraße . Works by Albin Egger-Lienz , Oskar Laske , Gustav Klimt , Oskar Kokoschka , Egon Schiele and Alfons Walde are part of the gallery program. Also the Austrian mood impressionism with works by Tina Blau , Marie Egner , Theodor von Hörmann , Leontine von Littrow , Emil Jakob Schindler and Olga Wisinger-Florian a room is given.

In 2006 the two gallery owners took over the neighboring Kovacek art salon in Stallburggasse and merged the two shops. Since then, the 300 m² gallery has extended over three floors, where pictures and sculptures are presented.

The gallery also focuses on contemporary art . The pioneers of Austrian abstract art , Wolfgang Hollegha , Josef Mikl , Markus Prachensky and Max Weiler , will be shown as well as works by the Austrian artists Maria Lassnig , Kiki Kogelnik and Xenia Hausner . Galerie Kovacek & Zetter has taken over the Vienna representation for some artists. The glass and ceramic artist Rosemarie Benedikt and the painter Anselm Glück are part of the gallery's fixed program. The Linz artist Beni Altmüller , the painter Ingrid Brandstetter and the sculptor Barbara Szüts as well as the Italian glass artist Massimo Lunardon are newcomers .

Every year four to six exhibitions are held in the gallery rooms, each of which is accompanied by a catalog. The individual presentations are devoted to different epochs , with the focus on Biedermeier painting and mood impressionism, or more on classical modernism and art after 1945 . The contemporary exhibitions are also accompanied by catalogs. The gallery guarantees the authenticity of the artworks on offer.

The Kovacek & Zetter gallery regularly takes part in art fairs such as Art & Antique in the Vienna Hofburg and art austria in the Leopold Museum in the Museumsquartier in Vienna.
