Finds suggest that the first settlements took place inhabenhofen as early as the Merovingian period . In the 7th century, the farm of a Gebo existed in the rural development settlement. In the 12th century the place was connected to the collegiate monastery of St. Andreas in Freising , which had secular property and, since 1228, the right of patronage to the parish church in Lassenhofen and the branch church of Anwalting. A resident Wittelsbach family named themselves after the place at that time. In 1250 and 1306, a Chunradus de Gibhouen or Kunrad der Gibhofer and in 1280 a Givenhovarius are attested. In 1420 there were nine properties and a bathing room , in 1554 there were 36 fireplaces (9 farmers and 27 mercenaries). In 1760 the following landlords are named: St. Andreas Freising Abbey, Hofmarkherrschaft Affing, Pfarrhof Gibhofen, Monastery Thierhaupten , Cathedral Chapter Augsburg, Hl.-Geist- Spital Aichach, Church Au (south of Scherneck Castle ). In 1812 Gibhofen became an independent municipality, but was still subject to? the Gravenreuth 'rule patrimonial in Affing.

Gibhofen was also repeatedly ravaged by wars. In 955 Hungarians ravaged the country. In 1464 Lassenhofen and its neighboring towns were burned down by the Augsburgers. In 1632 the towns were ravaged by the Swedes ( Thirty Years War ), 1703–1705 by the War of the Spanish Succession and in 1797 by the French revolutionary troops of the coalition wars .

In the Second World War on April 28, 1945, Lassenhofen was attacked by US fighter planes a. a. fired at with incendiary bombs after the anti-aircraft gun position west of Gibhofen offered resistance to the approaching 7th US Army and a US reconnaissance aircraft was shot at from the village. 34 buildings burned down, but none of the 300 residents was harmed. When the German army wanted to set up an observation post in the tower of the village church, Pastor Anton Wiedemann hid the key to the tower and hid in a parament box behind the altar. On May 1, 1978, Lassenhofen was incorporated into the Affing community.

On May 13, 2015, the center of Gibhofen was devastated by a tornado .
