Poem is a song by the German rapper Nico Suave , in cooperation with the German soul singer Flo Mega . The piece is the first single from his fourth studio album Unforgettable .
Creation and artwork
The song was written jointly by Benjamin Dernhoff, Daniel Nitt, Jan Rehorn, Alex Sprave and Nico Suave. The piece was produced by Sprave. The single was released under the Embassy of Music label, published by BMG Rights Management , Edition 126, Larrabeat Publishing and Universal Music Publishing , and distributed by Tonpool. On the cover of the maxi single - in addition to artist names and song titles - the two artists can be seen in a tattoo shop. The picture shows Flo Mega tattooed the Suave's right forearm.
Publication and promotion
Poem was first published as a single download on August 15, 2014. The song is part of Suave's fourth studio album Unforgettable, which was released on February 20, 2015. Six months earlier, the piece was on the sampler of the Bundesvision Song Contest 2014 . In order to promote the song, there was, among other things, a joint live appearance on Sat.1 breakfast television .

To promote the song and themselves, Suave and Flo Mega competed in the Bundesvision Song Contest 2014 for the state of Hamburg . The two performers actually come from Bremen and North Rhine-Westphalia . For Flo Mega it was already the second participation in the competition. In 2011 he took second place with Back for his home state Bremen with 111 points and only had to admit defeat to Tim Bendzko with If words were my language . They took tenth place with 28 points and had to admit defeat to Gunslinger with their winning title Let's Go , Jupiter Jones , Teesy , Marteria or Andreas Bourani with On other ways . From their “adopted home” Hamburg they got the highest number of points of the evening with 10/12 points, altogether they got points from seven federal states. In the run-up to the performances, small clips were shown in which Stefan Raab and the Heavytones met the performers in a rehearsal room and held a short jam session . Raab played together with Flo Mega an acoustic version of his hit Zurück and a medley of “Hamburg rap classics” with Mega and Suave. The medley included Hammerhart from Absolute Beginners , Bon Voyage from Deichkind and Nina as well as Jein and Nordic by Nature from Fettes Brot . As a gift, the two Raab presented a "Hamburg fish sandwich ".
When asked why he was attending the two, Suave said the following:
“We are there because Stefan decided for us, Flo was not included in the Voice of Germany jury and our song poem best reflects the feeling of summer in Hamburg !. We're competing for Hamburg because I've lived here for many years and the city has become my new home. This is where I met my dream woman, this is where my daughter was born and my path in the music landscape paved. Thumbs up for this beautiful piece of earth. "

The lyrics to the poem are written in German. The music and the text were written by Benjamin Dernhoff , Daniel Nitt , Jan Rehorn, Alex Sprave and Nico Suave. Musically, the song moves in the realm of hip-hop ( boom bap ) and pop music . The tempo is 80 beats per minute . The song is based on an intro, two stanzas and a chorus between the intro, the two stanzas and a repetitive one at the end of the song. The intro and chorus are sung by Flo Mega, the verses are rapped by Suave. As an instrumentalist, Philipp Thimm can be heard on the string instruments. In an interview with TV total , Suave stated that the song was dedicated to the world of women or, in his case, to a very specific person. It is a declaration of love and, indirectly, a request to spend the day in bed, to really feel life again and much more. It is a positive song that should also encourage positive thoughts. |
Music video
The music video for the poem was shot in the OH MY Café Dortmund and premiered on September 11, 2014 on YouTube . You can see the two interpreters who initially move alone through a two-dimensional world. While Suave only moves through this 2D world on foot, Mega is among other things on a ship and in a hot air balloon. Towards the end of the video, a real hand appears, which Suave first lifts into the sky before suddenly standing next to Mega in a hot air balloon. At the end of the video, the two end up on a concert stage, where they end their performance. The total length of the video is 3:09 minutes. Feliks Horn directed it. To date, the music video has over 300,000 views on YouTube (as of November 2017).

Dani Fromm from the German online magazine laut.de awarded the album Unforgettable three out of five stars and described the poem in its review as "sweet" and "poetic".

Gedicht reached position 78 in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the charts for a week. The piece was also able to place itself in the daily evaluations of the German iTunes charts for three days and reached its highest ranking with position 43. For Suave this is the second chart success in the German single charts after Vergesslich . As an author it is the third chart success after Forgetful and the audition date ( Sleepwalker feat. Hamburg City All Stars). For Flo Mega, poem after Zurück is also the second chart success as an interpreter in Germany. For Nitt as an author, this is the second chart success in Germany after Au revoir ( Mark Forster feat. Sido ). Dernhoff, Rehorn and Sprave reached the German single charts for the first time in their writing or producing work with poems .
