Georg Philipp Emil Noell (born February 25, 1852 in Oberstein ; † January 11, 1926 ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

Noell was the son of a doctor and his wife Louise, nee Gottlieb.

Military career

After his education in his parents' home as well as the visit of the high schools in Kreuznach and Darmstadt joined Noell early January 1871 as a one-year volunteer in the Hohenzollern Fusilier Regiment of the Prussian army one. Discharged from the reserve after a year , he decided to volunteer again in the army at the end of May 1872. Noell was then employed in the 8th Brandenburg Infantry Regiment No. 64 and was promoted to second lieutenant until mid-April 1873 . For two years he served as a battalion adjutant, took part in the general staff tour of the II Army Corps in the fall of 1880 and was transferred to the Grenadier Regiment "King Friedrich Wilhelm IV." (1st Pomeranian) No. 2 commanded as adjutant to the 26th Infantry Brigade . Noell rose to prime lieutenant at the end of July 1887 and was placed in command à la suite of the 1st Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 13 on May 3, 1887 . After being promoted to the superfluous captain , on February 14, 1888, when he was transferred to the 4th Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 72, he was appointed chief of the 7th Company. This was followed by a use in the King Infantry Regiment No. 145 from September 20, 1890 to June 17, 1895 . Subsequently transferred as an aggregated in the infantry regiment "Keith" (1st Upper Silesian) No. 22 , he was commander of the III. Battalions in Bytom .

With his promotion to lieutenant colonel , Noell was commanded to Württemberg on September 14, 1900 and used with the staff of the infantry regiment "Kaiser Wilhelm, King of Prussia" (2nd Württembergisches) No. 120 . Left in his command in Württemberg, he was promoted to colonel on March 22, 1903 and appointed commander of the 10th Württemberg Infantry Regiment No. 180 in Tübingen . For his work in the command of the troops, King Wilhelm II awarded him the Cross of Honor of the Order of the Württemberg Crown on May 17, 1902, and the Commander-in-Chief II class of the Order of Frederick on February 25, 1905 .

On April 14, 1907, Noell was released from his command and appointed as a major general to command the 65th Infantry Brigade in Mörchingen . In this capacity he received the Order of the Crown II. Class and the Order of the Red Eagle II. Class with Oak Leaves. Granted the character of lieutenant general, he was put up for disposition on May 4, 1910 in approval of his resignation request with the statutory pension .

After his departure he lived in Darmstadt. During the First World War Noell was used as z. D. officer and acted as the commander of the 50th Infantry Brigade (2nd Grand Ducal Hessian) in Mainz . After the end of the war, Noell received the character of General of the Infantry on December 22, 1920 .
