life and work

Georg Wünning learned organ building from 1965 to 1968 with Gerhard Böhm in Gotha , where he also spent his time as a journeyman and worked there until 1981. He passed the master's examination in 1981 and then specialized in organ building at Jehmlich in Dresden . Here he designed brochures and was responsible for the construction area. Wünning founded his own workshop in Grossolbersdorf in 1983. Wünning emerged from the restoration of historical organs. His new buildings were often built behind the historical prospectuses of the previous organs and with the inclusion of historical registers . In the pedal transmissions are often used. Wünning mainly built and restored organs in his Saxon homeland, but was also commissioned to build new organs in other European countries.

Wünning was recognized by the German UNESCO Commission in October 2016 as cultural talent of the month.
