Giorgos Tzavelas ( Greek Γιώργος Τζαβέλας [ ˈʝɔrɣɔs dzaˈvɛlas ]; born November 26, 1987 in Vyronas , Athens ) is a Greek football player who is under contract with Alanyaspor .

Career

Kerkyra

Tzavelas made his debut in Greek professional football at AO Kerkyra on September 9, 2006 in a 0-0 win against Larissa . He scored his first goal for Kerkyra on March 11, 2007 in the fourth minute of the 4-3 away win over OFI Crete . In the summer of 2007 he got down with Kerkyra. After a year and a half with 23 appearances and two goals, he moved to Panionios Athens in January 2008 for € 200,000 .

Panionios Athens

After moving to Panionios, Tzavelas wore the number 31. He scored his first goal for Panionios on December 7 of the same year against AE Larisa . In his first full season, he played 17 games with two goals. In the following season, 2009/10 , he earned a regular place in the Athens team. This season, 24 appearances and an appointment as the best left-back in the Greek league followed.

Eintracht Frankfurt

During the 2010 summer break, Tzavelas signed a three-year contract with Eintracht Frankfurt . There he was supposed to replace the former captain Christoph Spycher in the left-wing defender position. On March 12, 2011, he scored his first and only Bundesliga goal in the away game at FC Schalke 04 . It was Eintracht's first goal in 2011, and Frankfurt had remained goalless for eight games since the start of the second half of the season. At the same time, at 73 meters, it was the goal in Bundesliga history that had been scored from the furthest distance. Tzavelas trumped the previous record holder Klaus Allofs , who scored for 1. FC Köln in 1986 against Bayer Leverkusen from 70 meters. In September 2014, his record was broken by Moritz Stoppelkamp ( SC Paderborn 07 ), who scored 96 from 83 meters in the game against Hannover .

AS Monaco

Tzavelas was loaned to AS Monaco in the French Ligue 2 until the end of the 2011/12 season. Monaco also had a purchase option of around 1 million euros . After the loan contract expired, he initially returned to Frankfurt. On August 7, 2012, AS Monaco Tzavelas finally committed. He signed a two-year contract until June 30, 2014.

PAOK Thessaloniki

On September 2, 2013, he moved to the Greek first division team PAOK Thessaloniki .

Alanyaspor

For the second half of the 2016/17 season he was signed by the Turkish first division club Alanyaspor .

Personal

After his return to Greece, Tzavelas founded a bar (Astron Bar) in downtown Athens , which was badly damaged in an arson attack in April 2014.
