The judicial district of Gottschee ( Slovene sodni okraj Kočevje ) was an Austrian judicial district in the crown land of Carniola, which was subordinate to the Gottschee District Court . It comprised parts of the political district of Gottschee ( Kočevje ), was the second largest judicial district of Carniola in terms of area in 1910 and had the eighth largest population of the judicial districts. With a share of almost 70%, the judicial district also housed by far the largest number of German-speaking residents in the whole of Carniola, whereby the Gottscheers spoke an Upper German dialect and lived in a German-speaking island, the center of which was the town of Gottschee.

The judicial district of Gottschee was added to Yugoslavia in 1919 .

history

The judicial district of Gottschee was created as a result of a ministerial lecture on August 6, 1849, in which the main features of the court division were determined. After the territorial division of the judicial districts and the allocation of the judicial districts to the newly established district authorities had been determined by the "Political Organizing Commission" in December 1849, the district courts of Carniola began their work on June 1, 1850.

In March 1850, the district court Gottschee was assigned the 41 cadastral communities Altlack, Banjaloka, Buchberg, Büchel, Ebenthal, Fara, Friesach, Göttenitz, Gotschee, Graflinden, Hirtenberg, Kazendorf, Koflern, Kotschen, Kummersdorf, Kuschel, Lienfeld, Malgern , Mitterdorf, Obergrass, Search, Unterlack, Unterdeutschau, Obermösel, Morowitz, Nesselthal, Osiunitz, Piertsche, Reinthal, Reichenau, Rieg, Schwarzenbach, Sele, Skril, Stallzern, Suchor, Sürgern, Taubenbrunn, Tiefenbach, Verch and Woseil. Together with the judicial districts of Reifnitz ( Ribnica ) and Grosslaschitz ( Velike Lašče ), the Gottschee district formed the Gottschee district .

The judicial district had a population of 20,331 present in 1880, with 5,622 people reporting Slovene and 14,323 people using German as their colloquial language.

In 1910 19,203 people were expelled from the judicial district, of whom 4,689 spoke Slovene (24.4%) and 13,291 German (69.2%).

Due to the border regulations of the Treaty of Saint-Germain concluded on September 10, 1919 , the judicial district of Gottschee was completely added to the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
