Glendale is a city (with the status " City ") in Milwaukee County in the US -amerikanischen State Wisconsin . In 2010 Glendale had 12,872 residents. By 2013 the population increased to 14,125.

In 2007 the local baseball team took part in the Junior League World Series (up to 14 years of age).

The city of Glendale is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area .

Glendale is located in the northeast suburbs of the city of Milwaukee on the Milwaukee River and about one kilometer west of Lake Michigan .

history

After the area of ​​today's city was settled by Indians of the Potawatomi and the Winnebago until the first half of the 19th century , after the area was ceded to the US government in 1833, the systematic settlement of European, mostly German immigrants.

The area of ​​the current city of Glendale was in the area of ​​the Town  of Milwaukee , founded in 1836 , a subdivision of the county of the same name. In 1872 the town hall was built in Glendale.

Since the end of the Second World War there have been increasing efforts to found a self-governing municipality. This met resistance from the nearby city of Milwaukee, which wanted to expand into the surrounding area. In 1950, however, the City of Glendale was incorporated, which developed into a suburb of Milwaukee.
