Ulrich Grappler von Trappenburg

Ulrich Grappler von Trappenburg (born May 1, 1600 in Vienna ; † January 9, 1658 in Passau ) was dean in Mistelbach and auxiliary bishop in Passau.

Life

Johann Ulrich Grappler von Trappenburg, Herr auf Achau and Neusiedl , was born in Vienna, where he also completed his humanistic studies. He studied law for two years and theology for four years at the Collegium Germanicum in Rome , received his doctorate in theology and ordained a priest on May 29, 1627 in Rome. After his return home, he was given the difficult task at the side of Count Khevenhüller to calm the restless farmers in the land above the Enns . He preached successfully in Linz , Wels , then in Graz , Klagenfurt , Loiben and Talberg and was installed as a pastor and dean in Mistelbach on August 10, 1639 .

On April 23, 1646 he was appointed or consecrated as auxiliary bishop for Upper and Lower Austria and bishop of Lampsakos under Prince-Bishop Leopold Wilhelm, Archduke of Austria .

On November 3, 1648 he consecrated five altars in the Canons' Monastery of St. Pölten and on December 8, 1648 the Jesuit Church of St. Michael in Steyr - Steyrdorf (Michaelerkirche) and in the same year.

He died in Passau in 1658 and was buried in the Chapel of the Corpus Christi Brotherhood in Passau Cathedral .
