Andalusia Grand Prix (motorcycle)

The Andalusia Grand Prix for Motorcycles is a motorcycle race for the motorcycle world championship .

It has taken place once so far, on July 26th, 2020 on the Circuito de Jerez near Jerez de la Frontera in Spain .

history

Due to the rampant COVID-19 pandemic , various races of the 2020 Motorcycle World Championship have been canceled or postponed. At the beginning of June 2020, Dorna Sports , the organizer of the world championship, published a revised racing calendar u. a. with two races within a week in Jerez.

After the classes Moto2 and Moto3 at the Grand Prix of Qatar already on March 8 had extended their first World Championship race, the July 19 by-19 COVID shortened season started with the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuito de Jerez. The following weekend the Andalusia Grand Prix was held in Jerez.

The Moto3 category race was dominated by Tatsuki Suzuki . The Japanese celebrated a start-to-finish victory on a Honda from pole position . In the Moto2 class, Enea Bastianini from Italy achieved his first victory in this category ahead of his compatriots Luca Marini and Marco Bezzecchi (all Kalex ). In the MotoGP class, Fabio Quartararo from France celebrated his second win within a week. The Yamaha triple victory went to Maverick Viñales from Spain and Valentino Rossi from Italy .
