Gustav Hoppenstedt , von Hoppenstedt since 1907 (born June 27, 1847 in Lüneburg , † August 6, 1918 in Kiel ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

He was a son of the secret government councilor Wilhelm Hoppenstedt.

Hoppenstedt studied law in Heidelberg , but then switched to an officer career and joined the field artillery regiment No. 10 in Hanover as a flag junior . As a lieutenant (since 1868) he took part in the war against France in 1870/71 . In 1872 he became a regimental adjutant in the field artillery regiment No. 46 in Celle . In 1875 he was promoted to prime lieutenant and in 1880 to captain in the field artillery regiment No. 62 in Oldenburg . From 1887 Hoppenstedt served as adjutant to the inspector general of the field artillery in Berlin , from 1889 as a major , and in 1892 became department commander in the 1st Kurhessian field artillery regiment No. 11 in Kassel , in 1895 lieutenant colonel in the field artillery regiment No. 18 in Frankfurt (Oder) , 1897 Colonel and Commander of Field Artillery Regiment No. 21 in Neisse and in 1899 Commander of the 19th Field Artillery Brigade in Oldenburg. In 1900 he was appointed major general , and in 1903 he was retired as lieutenant general .

He spent his retirement in Kassel. In 1907 he was raised to hereditary nobility.

During the First World War , Hoppenstedt was reused and acted as the commander of the 34th Infantry Brigade in Schwerin . As Maximilian von Roehl , Commanding General of the Deputy General Command of the IX. Army Corps in Altona , on June 5, 1915 inspected the replacement ready to march in Lübeck , the lieutenant general was also present.
