Guy Dupuis (born May 10, 1970 in Moncton , New Brunswick ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who last played for the Fort Wayne Komets in the Central Hockey League .
Career
Guy Dupuis began his career in 1986 with the Hull Olympiques in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League . After his second season, in which he won the championship, he was selected in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings in the third round in 47th place. The Canadian completed two more seasons with the Olympiques before signing his first professional contract.
From 1990 Dupuis was active for the Adirondack Red Wings , the farm team of the Red Wings from Detroit , in the American Hockey League . He also played ten games for the Fort Wayne Komets in the International Hockey League in 1992 , before moving entirely to the Komets in 1993. Dupuis spent seven seasons in Fort Wayne , where he was able to achieve more than 200 scorer points in over 500 games . He also won the Turner Cup once . For the 1999/2000 season, the right-shooter moved to the Hershey Bears in the AHL and was active in a total of ten games for the Chicago Wolves and the Michigan K-Wings in the IHL.
Then Dupuis signed a contract with the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League . There he was part of the defense of the DEL newcomer for two years, but could not qualify for the play-offs with the Sauerlanders . In 2002 the Canadian went back to North America . His next stops were the Bakersfield Condors and the Kalamazoo Wings .
For the 2005/06 season Dupuis returned to the Fort Wayne Komets, who now played in the United Hockey League . In the team, he took on the role of the offensive defender and was elected to the All-Star team in 2006. When the league became the new International Hockey League in 2007 , Dupuis won the championship in its first year. Also in the 2010/11 season he was in the Komets squad and played his 21st season as a professional. In May 2011, the defender decided to end his playing career. The Fort Wayne Komets announced that his number 2 shirt will be withdrawn before the second home game of the 2011/12 season and will not be given to any player on the team afterwards.
