history

The place was first mentioned in the 14th century as "Hirfeld" and "Hyrnfeld", in 1480 as "Hurnfeld". The place name is derived from the field name of the same name, whose defining word is the Old High German word "horo" (= swamp), ie the swampy field.

At the end of the 18th century there were 9 properties in Hürfeld. The high court and the village and community rule exercised the rule of Sugenheim . The landlords were the Lordship of Sugenheim (4 farms, 1 Sölde , 1 house, 1 shepherd's house) and the Lordship of Ullstadt (2 estates).

As part of the community edict, Hürfeld was assigned to the Sugenheim tax district formed in 1811 and the Sugenheim rural community in 1813 .
