The defense and midfield player plays since 2008 in the Icelandic national team and took her to the football championship of women in 2013 in part. At club level, she played for a long time and now again for Valur Reykjavík and from 2015 to 2017 for record champions Breiðablik Kópavogur . In between there were trips to Sweden and Italy.
Career
society
Hallbera started playing football with her hometown club ÍA Akranes and made her debut in the second round of the Icelandic Cup on June 2, 2002 at the age of 16, but lost the game 1-0. In the following year it was only used in the cup and again it was over in the second round. On May 28, 2004, she played her first league game, in the second Icelandic division. She was used in ten of the twelve league games and scored her first of nine league goals on June 7. Akranes won all twelve league games and rose to the top division . In 2005, however, the team only finished last.
Hallbera then moved to Valur Reykjavík . She had her first use for Valur on May 11, 2006 in the Supercup final against Breiðablik, which was lost with 1: 5. Five days later the first division game followed, which was won 6-0 against UMF Stjarnan . In the second leg on July 4, she also scored her first first division goal. Valur only lost the game at Breiðablik in the league, all other games were won, three of them in double digits. In the end, the club also benefited from the fact that Breiðablik lost one more game and became Icelandic champions. They succeeded in doing this over the next four years, remaining unbeaten in 2007, even after Margrét Lára Viðarsdóttir , top scorer in 2006 with 34, 2007 with 38 and 2008 with 32 goals, left the club for Sweden in 2009.
She also won the Icelandic Cup with Valur in 2006 on penalties against Breiðablik, but was only substituted on in the second half. But they were only able to repeat this success in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
In May 2007 they finally broke the years of dominance of Breiðablik when they won the Supercup final against them with 8: 1 and Breiðablik could not score a goal himself. Her teammate and record scorer for the national team, Margrét Lára Viðarsdóttir , scored five goals alone. They were able to repeat this success in the following years against changing opponents until 2011.
In 2010 she was even the third best scorer of the season with 15 league goals.
With Valur she took part in the UEFA Women's Champions League in 2009/10 , 2010/11 and 2011/12 , but failed successively in the round of 32 at Italian champions ASD Torres Calcio , Spanish champions Rayo Vallecano and Scottish champions Glasgow City LFC .
In 2012 she moved to Sweden and played in Damallsvenskan for Piteå IF . In their first season there, the club was eighth. In 2013 there was an improvement of one place. Then she moved to Italy and played for the Italian champions ASD Torres Calcio . With the Italians she took part in the 2013/14 UEFA Women's Champions League , but failed in the quarter-finals after heavy defeats at the German runner-up 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam . She finished the season with Torres in second place and the cup final was also lost.
In July 2014 she returned to Iceland and played again for Valur, but was not particularly happy about seventh place and switched to old rival Breiðablik Kópavogur for the 2015 season , with whom she was again champion but was eliminated in the cup final. On May 5, 2016, she won the Supercup with Breiðablik on penalties .
In the 2017 season she played again in Sweden for Djurgården Damfotboll and then returned to Valur.
National team
Hallbera played nine international matches for the Icelandic U-17 team in 2003, including the Nordic Cup , where the Icelandic women finished last. Also in 2003, as a 17-year-old, she took part with the U-19 team in the first and in 2004 the second qualifying round for the 2004 European Women's U-19 Football Championship . As second behind the eventual European runner-up, Germany, they could not qualify for the finals. In September 2004 she failed with the U-19 in the first qualifying round for the U-19 European Women's Football Championship in 2005 . With the U-21 team, she then played two games at the Nordic Cup 2001 against the USA and Germany, but they were heavily lost.
At the Algarve Cup 2008 she played her first international match on March 5, 2008 when she was 21 years old in a 2-0 win against the Poles . She came on in the 67th minute for Ásta Árnadóttir . In the following game in the 4-1 against Ireland she was in the starting line-up as in the third group game and played for the full 90 minutes. In the game for place 7, which they had reached as group winners of the weaker group C, they were then not taken into account. In the first three games after the Algarve Cup, she was in the squad, but was only substituted on twice in the final minutes. She was not nominated for the next three games and only came on as a substitute for five short appearances in the following games. This was followed by an international break of 14 months in which she not only missed 15 games, but also missed the Icelanders' first European Championship. During that time she was not used in two league games in August 2009.
After she came back in June 2010, she slowly developed into a regular player, now commuting between left defense and left midfield. One of the first highlights was the Algarve Cup 2011 , where Iceland reached the final for the first time and they equalized against the USA after an early deficit and two minutes later scored their first international goal to lead them 2-1, but the game nonetheless was lost 2: 4. With that she was finally established as a regular player and was only replaced or substituted in games with a test game character and a larger number of permitted substitutions or spared if the opponent was not as strong as Malta on April 10, 2014 when the Icelanders with 8: 0 won. Only in June 2012 did she miss two games in a row, but during this time she did not appear at her club Piteå IF either.
She was then nominated for the EM 2013 , where she didn't miss a minute and was only eliminated in the quarter-finals against hosts Sweden . In qualifying for the 2015 World Cup , they failed as the worst runners-up in the group and had to allow Switzerland to take part in their first World Cup. In contrast, it went better in qualifying for the 2017 European Championship . Together with the second-placed Scottish women , they qualified for the European Championship finals. There they lost the three group games and were eliminated from the bottom of the table.
In qualifying for the Women's World Cup in 2019 , they were able to win a game against Germany for the first time, but in the end they missed the finals as the fifth-best runner-up in the group.
On February 27, 2019, she played her 100th international match at the Algarve Cup .
