This project has existed in Wittmund , East Frisia since spring 2005 ; only instead of stars, the celebrities' handprints and their autographs are burned in clay and embedded in the pavement of the pedestrian zone.

So far the following handprints are available (in this order also seen from the east):

In Drostenstrasse

On the "Presidential Square"

In the Kirchstrasse

Remarks

The plaque attached to Hans-Gert Pöttering mistakenly shows the first name "Hans-Gerd". Johannes Rau's handprint was on the Hie-Yon Choi square until May 2010.

On the Presidential Square there are also commemorative plaques for the deceased Federal Presidents Theodor Heuss , Heinrich Lübke , Gustav Heinemann and Karl Carstens , but each without a handprint.

The handprints of Christian Berkel , Andrea Sawatzki , Reinhold Messner , Ben Becker , Claudio Pizarro , Naldo , Klaus Allofs , Thomas Schaaf , Peter Heinrich Brix , Karl Dall , David McAllister , Ulrich Tukur , Sebastian Koch , Katja Riemann are in preparation .

When she visited Neuharlingersiel in 2013, Chancellor Angela Merkel refused to have her handprints burned in clay. According to her statement, she wants to think about this again in a few years.
