Hans-Jochen Jaschke (born September 29, 1941 in Beuthen , Upper Silesia ) is a German Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop emeritus in the Archdiocese of Hamburg .

Life

Hans-Jochen Jaschke grew up in Bückeburg after being expelled from Upper Silesia . From 1961 to 1966 he studied at the Philosophical-Theological University of Sankt Georgen in Frankfurt am Main and the University of Münster . He received the diaconate on July 2, 1966, and January 28, 1967 at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Osnabrück the priesthood . From 1967 to 1970 he was vicar at the provost church of St. Johann in Bremen . From 1970 to 1974 he completed his doctoral studies in Munich and Regensburg and was in Joseph Ratzinger , the future Pope Benedict XVI, with Scripture. "The Holy Spirit in the confession of the church - A study to Pneumatology in Irenaeus of Lyon " for Dr. theol. PhD . From 1974 to 1983 he headed the Niels Stensen College, the theologian convict of the Osnabrück diocese in Münster . After that Jaschke was pastor in Quakenbrück until 1988 .

Hans-Jochen Jaschke was appointed titular bishop of Tisili and auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of Osnabrück in 1988 by Pope John Paul II . The episcopal ordination donated to him on January 8, 1989 in the cathedral of Osnabrück Ludwig Averkamp , Bishop of Osnabrück and later Archbishop of Hamburg ; Co-consecrators were Karl-August Siegel , former auxiliary bishop in Osnabrück, and Theodor Kettmann , auxiliary bishop in Osnabrück.

In 1994 Jaschke was appointed auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Hamburg . With the establishment of the Archdiocese of Hamburg in 1995, he was also responsible as Episcopal Vicar for doctrine of the faith, for questions of ecumenism and for the areas of church, culture and the media. He headed the Caritas associations in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein and was chairman of the supervisory board for the Marienkrankenhaus in Hamburg. Within the German Bishops' Conference he was a member of the Ecumenical Commission, member of the World Church Commission and chairman of the sub-commission for interreligious dialogue. He is also the representative of the Catholic Church on the Board of Trustees of the Flight, Expulsion, Reconciliation Foundation . Auxiliary Bishop Hans-Jochen Jaschke was also the episcopal commissioner for pastoral care in the Federal Police ( Federal Border Guard ), which he handed over to Auxiliary Bishop Wolfgang Bischof in 2016 . He was the representative of the Bishops' Conference for the preparation of the Catholic Day 2000 in Hamburg and the DBK representative for the Holy Year 2000.

Jaschke is an honorary member of the Catholic student association K.St.V. Albingia in the KV zu Hamburg, and since 1997 the Catholic student associations AV Rheno-Guestfalia zu Kiel in the CV and WKSt.V. Unitas Tuisconia Hamburg in the UV .

In 2003 he was appointed Grand Officer of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem by Cardinal Grand Master Carlo Cardinal Furno and invested in Jerusalem on April 8, 2003 . Jaschke was also chaplain of the German Association of the Sovereign Order of Malta .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on October 8, 2016.
