Location of Hansaviertel in Rostock

The Hansaviertel is a district of the Hanseatic city of Rostock .

history

The construction of the Hansaviertel began at the beginning of the 20th century west of the Kröpeliner-Tor-Vorstadt . First of all, the university clinic with an adjacent villa district was built. In the 1920s and 1930s, larger apartment blocks were added.

Today's Hansaviertel consists of the actual Hansaviertel around Bremer Strasse, the clinic quarter around the university hospitals in the Schillingallee, Strempelstrasse, Ernst-Heydemann-Strasse and Rembrandtstrasse, the Thünenviertel around Virchowstrasse and the quarter around Bei der Tweel with the listed Kosegarten settlement . In the district are the sports forum with the Ostseestadion , the ice rink , the Neptun swimming pool , the Volksstadion and other sports fields as well as parts of the local recreation area Barnstorfer Wald .

Today the Hansaviertel is a popular residential area in Rostock due to its proximity to the city center and the green spaces.
