Heaven Can Wait is a 1988 pop song written by Sandra .
Creation and publication
The song was written by Michael Cretu , Hubert Kemmler alias Hubert Kah, Markus Löhr and Klaus Hirschburger , the latter band members of Hubert Kah, and produced by Cretu. Heaven Can Wait is an up-tempo synth pop song. The lyrics describe a flirtation in which the person opposite is the wanted person who shows up at exactly the right time. Hence “Heaven can wait”.
The single was pre-released on May 30, 1988 at Virgin Records as the first single from the album Into a Secret Land . On the B-side is the song Heaven's Theme (instrumental) . There is also a 7:38 minute maxi version, which is supplemented by the 4:01 minute long dub mix on the maxi single. Heaven Can Wait has appeared on numerous compilations and best-of albums.
Sandra appeared with the song twice in the ZDF hit parade ; initially she offered him on July 21, 1988 in the summer hit parade from Phantasialand in Brühl , as fifth place among the titles determined by a ticket. This appearance reached more than 4.5 million views on YouTube (as of November 2019). After a system change in the ZDF hit parade, the interpreter was allowed to perform the song again on September 7, 1988, this time as second place among the titles determined by Media Control .

The music video was directed by Rudi Dolezal and Hannes Rossacher alias DoRo . It was shot in Ibiza .
Chart placements
The single reached high chart positions in European countries, including number 12 in Germany , number four in Austria and number 16 in Switzerland . In France , the song came in sixth.
