Heinrich von Roeder (General, 1742)
Heinrich Dietrich Christoph von Roeder (born November 27, 1742 in Breuberg , † April 3, 1821 in Grottkau ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the cuirassier regiment "von Heising" .
Life
origin
Heinrich was a son of Christoph Ernst von Roeder (1694–1754) from the Metgethen family and his wife Anna Charlotte, born von Winterfeldt († 1762). His father was a Prussian colonel and chief of the "von Roeder" garrison regiment as well as the governor of von Barten . His brother Friedrich Adrian Dietrich von Roeder became lieutenant general.
Military career
In 1758 Roeder joined the Freidragon Regiment "von Kleist" of the Prussian Army as a Junker and took part in the Battle of Freiberg as an orderly officer of General Seydlitz during the Seven Years' War . On January 1, 1761, he was promoted to lieutenant in the Cuirassier Regiment "von Seydlitz", to which he belonged until he left military service. On September 3, 1778, he rose to the rank of staff assistant master and as such took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On July 25, 1784, he became captain and company commander , and on September 1, 1789, major . On January 13, 1791 he received the order to receive the Turkish ambassador in Silesia and to escort him to Berlin. In gratitude and appreciation, Roeder received a gift of 1,000 thalers from the king on March 17, 1791, before he returned to his regiment. In 1794/95 he took part in the campaign in Poland . On October 22, 1797 he was squadron chief , on May 20, 1798 lieutenant colonel and on June 16, 1799 colonel . On October 18, 1805 he became regimental commander. He was then promoted to major general on May 20, 1806 with a patent dated June 5, 1806. In the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the Battle of Auerstedt . He withdrew with the corps to Pasewalk , but had to capitulate there. On October 19, 1807 he was put on half pay. On September 1, 1813, he received his departure with a pension of 800 thalers. He died in Grottkau on April 3, 1831.
family
He married Johanna Charlotte Sophie Geisler (1753–1783) in Ohlau on June 18, 1775. After her untimely death he married Sophie Henriette Christiane Trützschler von Falkenstein (1762–1838) on January 16, 1785 in Manze ( Nimptsch district ). The following children emerged from the marriages:
- Heinrich Friedrich Karl (1777–1807), killed in the siege of Kolberg as a staff captain and as the last Prussian in the Fourth Coalition War
- Wilhelm Karl Ferdinand (* / † 1779)
- Wilhelm Karl Ferdinand (1781–1813), killed as a major in the Battle of Kulm ⚭ Philippine Lucie Karoline von Kahle (1780–1837), parents of Maximilian Heinrich von Roeder , General of the Infantry
