Helga Arendt (born April 24, 1964 in Cologne ; † March 11, 2013 ) was a German athlete who - starting for Germany - was successful as a 400-meter runner in the late 1980s and early 1990s .
Helga Arendt was 1.78 m tall and weighed 64 kg at competition times. It initially belonged to the Pulheimer SC , ASV Cologne , SC Eintracht Hamm and later to the LG Olympia Dortmund .

At the indoor world championships in 1989 she was the winner in the 400-meter run.
On February 20, 1988 she was involved in an indoor world record in the 4 x 200 meter relay race in Dortmund , in which a relay of SC Eintracht Hamm (Helga Arendt, Silke-Beate Knoll , Mechthild Kluth , Gisela Kinzel ) a time of 1: 32.55 min. Helga Arendt won a total of twelve German championship titles.

During her career, Arendt was involved in a system of organized doping at EC Eintracht Hamm in the so-called "hammer model" under the then national coach Heinz-Jochen Spilker . Starting at the age of 22, she was given Stromba . After the death of Arendt called the doping victims aid organization the German sports organizations to work up the former chemical networks in East and West.
After the sports career
After her sporting career, Arendt, who had studied law in Münster , worked as a lawyer. She was admitted as such in 1997 and has held the title of specialist lawyer for traffic law since 2005 .
