Helmut Imig
Helmut Imig (born January 27, 1941 in Bonn ) is a German conductor and lives in Essen.
Life
education
Imig completed his musical training at the Cologne University of Music , where he a. a. He was a student of professors Wolfgang von der Nahmer ( conducting ) and Hans-Otto Schmidt ( piano ). At the same time he studied musicology at Bonn University. On July 6, 1962, he improvised with the piece . Ballet (only so and then after record) took part in the cultural forum stage for sensual perception - KONZIL , which was sponsored by the University of Bonn between 1961 and 1963 as part of the Studium Universale . In 1964 he received a scholarship to Paris , where he completed his studies with the conductor Pierre Dervaux and the pianist Annie d'Arco with the first prize of the Ecole Normale de Musique .

Imig initially went to Kaiserslautern and Saarbrücken as a répétiteur and first Kapellmeister to Bremen and Osnabrück and to the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz , Munich , and entered into a collaboration with the Bamberg Symphony . He then became first conductor at the Essen Theater and Philharmonic Orchestra . Guest performance contracts with the orchestra of the Beethovenhalle Bonn, the Philharmonia Hungarica and many other municipal orchestras followed.
Imig has been working as a freelancer since 1985. His repertoire includes a. Radio and television recordings in Munich , Cologne , Lugano and Hamburg . Abroad, he gave concerts with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra in Maastricht , the Orchester National de Lille , the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Teatro Regio in Turin , the Symphony Orchestra of Curitiba in Brazil , the Haydn Orchestra of Bozen in Italy and the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana in Lugano. In recent years there have also been the London Sinfonietta, the NDR Symphony Orchestra, the Szombathely Symphony Orchestra , Hungary , the Ensemble “Die Reihe”, Vienna , the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra , the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra , Brussels , the AOW ( Ambassade Orchestra Vienna ), the Lower Austrian Tonkünstlerorchester, the Bruckner Orchester Linz and the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra of the SWR . He also took over the management of “Ecoute”, an ensemble of top musicians from the Ruhr area .
In addition to concert activities, the focus of work is experimental music, moderation concerts, silent film concerts with original music and own compilations .
Helmut Imig has particular ties to the radio orchestras in Munich and Saarbrücken, the Babelsberg film orchestra and the Ensemble Resonanz. He is considered a specialist in original music to accompany films. a. for silent films . A sensation not only its revision caused the film music of Edmund Meisel for the classic film Battleship Potemkin by Sergei Eisenstein for the 55th Berlinale of 2005.
Imig has been touring Germany with Disney Live In Concert - Pirates of the Caribbean since 2011 , with the film being played live by a symphony orchestra and choir in the original language with German subtitles. Part 2 is now also being performed, and on April 20, 2014 Part 3 celebrated its German premiere.
