Hermann Müller (born June 18, 1913 in Jagstfeld , † December 28, 1991 in Schwäbisch Hall ) was a German politician ( FDP / DVP ) and finance minister of Baden-Württemberg .

education and profession

Hermann Müller was the son of an administrative officer in Württemberg . He grew up in Neckarsulm and acquired in 1931 in Heilbronn , the High School . He completed a commercial traineeship by 1933 and then studied law and political science in Tübingen and Freiburg until 1937 . As a student he joined the Tübingen and Freiburg Wingolf . In 1939 he completed his studies with a doctorate to become Dr. jur. from and worked as a court or government trainee, but was drafted into military service in the same year. In 1948 he returned from British captivity .

Political activity

From 1948 to 1949 he was administrative administrator or deputy district administrator in the district of Heilbronn , from 1949 to 1960 then district administrator in the district of Schwäbisch Hall . In 1956 Müller was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg for the FDP / DVP , of which he remained a member until 1972, from 1967 to 1972 as vice-president. To this day, Müller is unique within the FDP as he succeeded three times in winning the direct mandate in a conservative, rural constituency with majorities of 34.4% (1960), 41.1% (1964) and 36% (1968). From 1960 to 1966 he was Baden-Württemberg's finance minister, from 1970 to 1979 he held the office of a board member or (from 1973) board spokesman of the credit institute for reconstruction in Frankfurt am Main .

In the FDP he was deputy federal chairman from 1968 to 1972, from 1967 to 1971 state chairman and from 1968 to 1976 a member of the FDP federal executive committee . From 1973 to 1983 he was state treasurer, nine years district chairman in Schwäbisch Hall and since 1981 honorary chairman of the Baden-Württemberg state association.

Awards and honors

Hermann Müller was the recipient of the Federal Cross of Merit with a star (since 1969) and shoulder ribbon (since 1972), the constitutional medal of Baden-Württemberg in gold (since 1968), the medal of merit of the state of Baden-Württemberg (since 1978) and the Reinhold Maier medal the Reinhold Maier Foundation (since 1989).

Family and private

He was married to Sigrid Müller , with whom he had four children. He spent his retirement in Schwäbisch Hall, where he died in 1991.
