Shipyard stays

From November 15, 2006 to November 16, 2007, the Hetman Sahaidachnyj in Mykolaiv underwent major maintenance work, the cost of which amounted to around 15 million hryvnia . From August 22, 2012 to December 21, 2012, planned maintenance took place in a shipyard in Sevastopol in order to prepare the frigate for the upcoming mission in the Horn of Africa , among other things .

Calls

In 1994 the frigate sailed to the French Channel coast to take part in the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy . The following year the ship went to IDEX -95, an arms industry fair in Abu Dhabi . In 1996 the Hetman Sahaidatschnyj had her first mission in the Pacific, followed by an official visit to Norfolk in the United States together with the Kostjantyn Olschanskyj .

From June 18 to 23, 2004 the frigate took part in the NATO naval exercise Cooperative Partner 2004 off the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria . In 2008 the ship was involved in the NATO operation Active Endeavor in the Mediterranean for three months .

2014

From September 24, 2013 to January 5, 2014, the frigate took part in the fight against piracy in the Gulf of Aden as part of NATO's Operation Ocean Shield . For this purpose, special forces and a Kamow Ka-27 helicopter were taken on board. The frigate then participated in the European Union's Operation Atalanta . On the way back from Somalia to Sevastopol, the frigate passed through the Suez Canal towards the Mediterranean on February 26, 2014.

Various media reported that the ship had placed itself under the command of the Russian Black Sea Fleet on its way back from its mission in the Horn of Africa in early March 2014. The Ukrainian Rear Admiral Andrij Tarasow denied this report, which turned out to be false. On March 4, 2014, the frigate moored in Crete and then went not, as originally planned, to its home port of Sevastopol, which was blocked by the Russian Navy, but to Odessa . There she was received with military honors on March 6th.

From March 14 to 21, 2014, the frigate under its captain Roman Pyatnytsky is said to have been on patrol in the Black Sea and, according to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, prevented four military ships and two Mi-35 helicopters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet from attempting to breach the Ukrainian sea border . She is said to have returned to the port of Odessa on March 21 .

2016

In the spring of 2016, the frigate took part in a joint military exercise with the Turkish Navy in the Sea of Marmara .
