The Honda CB 1000 R (SC 60) is a naked bike category and the official successor to the Honda Hornet 900 (SC 48). It has been manufactured by Honda in Italy since 2008.
The version with Combined ABS is called CB 1000 RA (SC 60) .
Model history
The CB 1000 R replaced the Hornet 900 from 2008. It is a completely newly developed motorcycle. The central element of the machine is the aluminum mono backbone frame. The chassis consists of an upside-down fork at the front and a single-sided swing arm at the rear. The machine was initially available with radially screwed six-piston brake calipers at the front without ABS, or in the Combined ABS version with four-piston calipers. Only the ABS version is now available. Combined ABS combines the combination brake known from Honda with ABS . When it comes to lighting, the relatively large individual headlights are particularly noticeable. Directly below is a blue, round LED parking light. At the rear there is a combined LED rear and LED brake light integrated into the cladding.
The buyer has the following 4 colors to choose from: Pearl Siena Red , Dragon Green Metallic , Pearl Nightstar Black and Pearl Cool White . In 2011 the color variant Pearl Cool White (tricolor) was added.
The new CB 1000 R (SC 80) came onto the market for the 2018 model year .
Facelift
SC 60 from 2010
No technical changes are planned for the year of construction 2010. However, the color palette has been expanded to include Metallic Pearl Sienna Red . In the 2011 model year this color was no longer used and was replaced by the TRICOLOR (white-blue-red). In 2012, Mat Cygnos Gray came out as the new color.

Chassis and frame
The CB 1000 R has a "mono-backbone" frame made of aluminum that is manufactured using the gravity die -cast process. With the engine as the supporting element, the whole thing results in a stiff diamond configuration. The head tube, swing arm mount and main frame tube are welded together so that they enclose the engine as closely as possible and form a compact unit. By arranging the main frame, engine and exhaust in the most compact space possible, a good mass centralization was achieved. Every other component that is further away from this central point was designed to be as weight-saving as possible.
A 43 mm upside-down fork with HMAS cartridge damper and 120 mm travel is installed at the front. This is fully adjustable in rebound and compression as well as in the spring preload. The rear suspension has a monoshock damper with a progressive spring travel of 128 mm. The rebound as well as the spring preload can be adjusted here.
Brakes
At the front there are two 310 mm brake discs with four-piston brake calipers, on the rear wheel there is a 256 mm brake disc with double-piston brake calipers.
The version with Combined ABS has three-piston brake calipers at the front as well as at the rear and front via a pulse ring, the rotation of which is constantly monitored by the ABS. The middle of the three brake pistons on the front brake is exclusively responsible for combined braking. The other two only respond when the front brake lever is operated. The combination brake ensures that a certain braking force is always exerted on the front brake when the brake pedal for the rear brake is pressed. However, only just enough to keep the braking force between the rear and front wheel in a balanced ratio. If only the brake lever for the front wheel brake is operated, then this works as usual and the rear wheel is not braked as well.
Powertrain
The engine of the CB 1000 R is a modified version of the engine of the 2007 Fireblade . It is somewhat throttled, but this means that it develops a higher torque with a lower maximum power in the lower and middle speed ranges. Unlike the CBF 1000, which has the same engine base, the CB has a total of 30% more power available in the upper speed range. The engine has an output of 92 kW (125 hp) at 10,000 rpm and a torque of 99 Nm at 7750 rpm.
The transmission has six gears and transfers the power to the rear wheel via an O-ring chain with 116 links. The transmission ratio enables a maximum speed of 230 km / h. The clutch is operated hydraulically.
cockpit
The display unit with tachometer, speedometer, coolant temperature display, fuel gauge, odometer, clock and various warning and signal displays is completely digitized. The Combined ABS version of the CB has an ABS warning light. The brightness of the blue background lighting of the display can be adjusted in three stages.
The machine has an immobilizer, called by Honda HISS (Honda Ignition Security System, German: Honda Ignition Security System). The motorcycle can only be started with the corresponding keys, or more precisely, the coded chip used in the keys. The lock can neither be bypassed by short-circuiting nor by replacing the ignition switch module, because HISS switches the engine off directly at the ignition.
