Horst Mendroch (born January 18, 1942 in Skotschau ; † August 3, 2015 in Berlin ) was a German actor and radio play speaker. He was married to the actress Petra Redinger .

Life and works

Horst Mendroch completed an acting training at the Westphalian Drama School in Bochum . The stages on which he played included the Schauspiel Köln (1980 to 1985), the Thalia Theater and the Schauspielhaus Bochum . From 1991 he was a permanent member of the ensemble of the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus until 2009. In Berlin he then worked at the Volksbühne and with Thorsten Lensing's independent troupe (2013 "Kirschgarten" and 2015 "Karamasow").

He played in 16 productions by Jürgen Gosch from 1982 to 2006. Selection: Night Asylum, Misanthrope, Midsummer Night's Dream (note and puck), Macbeth (8 roles), What you want (fool).

Mendroch also worked with the directors Jürgen Flimm , Karin Beier (including Romeo and Juliet, The Merchant of Venice: Shylock, Die Stühle (the old man)), Hansjörg Utzerath (Mr. Puntila and his servant), FPSteckel (Germania, death), Thorsten Lensing.

In addition to his stage work, Mendroch took part in various film and television productions . As a speaker for radio plays and audio books, he set to music , for example, The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling (2008) or We Can Still Do A Lot Together by FK Waechter (2009).

Horst Mendroch died in Berlin at the beginning of August 2015 at the age of 73. The funeral service and burial of the urn took place on August 31, 2015 at the state's own cemetery in Heerstraße in Berlin-Westend (burial location: 18-M-39).
