The Huacachi district is located in the Huari Province in the Ancash region of western Peru . The district was founded on October 14, 1901. It has an area of 88.9 km². The 2017 census counted 1,876 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2667, in 2007 it was 2111. The district administration is located in the 3509 m high village of Huacachi with 808 inhabitants (as of 2017). Huacachi is located 25 km east of the provincial capital Huari .
Geographical location
The Huacachi District is located in the northeast of the Huari Province. The Río Puchca flows northeast along the northwestern district boundary .
The district of Huacachi borders in the northwest on the district Aczo , in the north on the district Anra , in the southeast on the district Singa ( province Huamalíes ), in the south on the district Miraflores (also in the province Huamalíes) and in the west the district Pontó .
