IC 2085 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Dorado in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 36 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 25,000 ly. Together with NGC 1617 , it probably forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair.
The galaxies IC 2079 , IC 2082 , IC 2083 , IC 2086 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on December 7, 1899 .
