IC 2178 is a spiral galaxy from the Hubble type S in the constellation of twins on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 330 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter.

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on February 11, 1898 .
